Metallic Expansion Bellows
Our company is manufacturing the most comprehensive range of Metallic Expansion Bellows which are also known as Compensator. These bellows, however, compensate elements for thermal expansion and relative movement in pipelines, machines and containers. These are equipped with more than one metal bellows with connectors at both the ends and tie rods that depend on the application. These Expansion Bellows are categorized on the basis of three types of movements – Axial, Angular and Lateral Expansion Bellows.
Multi Ply Design
The modern Extension bellows are featured with Multi Ply Design. This design enhances the stability and flexibility of the bellows having multiple number of thin plies made of metal are layered to form the bellow walls. There two basic type of structure that come under this form of design which are:
The Multi Ply Structure
This consists of a longitudinally welded outer and inner cylinder of stainless steel which is pressure-tight in nature. These cylinders are open and spiral forming multiple plies depending on the design.
The Multi Walled Structure
This Multi Walled Structure comes with longitudinally and concentric welded cylinders. All these cylinders are pressure-tight in nature and have closed “wall”.
Some of these Multi Walled Bellows main advantages of these joints:
- Resistant to high pressures
- Exhibit large movement absorption
- Come with small dimensions
- Show small adjusting force rates
- Optimal compensation occupying very small space
- During the time of any damage exhibit early leak indication via standard check hole
- Explosion resistant
- Equipped with permanent leak monitoring facilities in critical media
The design ensures both technical and economical benefits such as bellows can be constructed of different materials like high alloy stainless steel for the pipes and low alloy stainless steel for the intermediate plies.
Compensation Types of Metallic Expansion Bellows
The Metallic Expansion Bellows exhibit different types of Compensation Types as per the requirement of their application. The main types of compensation types are:Axial, Angular and Lateral.
Axial Compensation
In the Axial Compensation the axial expansion bellow absorbs the thermal stretch of a straight line sections between two fixed points. The measurement between these two points determines the pipeline length that needs compensation. This defines the axial movement that is done through the expansion bellow.
Angular Compensation
In the Angular Compensation, two angular expansion bellows are necessary for thermal expansion and for full compensation three of them are required. Angular Expansion bellows are exhibiting the a vivid variety of combination options which are called two hinge or three-hinge systems.
Lateral Compensation
Lateral Compensation is an essential part of the piping system and is linked with the redirection of flow by 90 degree within single-plane and multi-plane. These Lateral Expansion bellows are mainly installed in a right-angle directions and consist of a lateral movement with a bit of slight axial movement that come from the expansion bellow itself.
Simple Lateral Expansion Bellows exhibit a larger expansion absorption than axial expansion bellows. The Lateral Expansion bellows can be moved in all plane and can absorb expansion from two pipe sections in different directions.
The choice of Compensation type is dependent on the cost effectiveness and the solution they provide for the whole process.
Universal Metallic Expansion Bellows
These Metallic Expansion Bellows are specially designed which can absorb not only the axial movements but also the angular and lateral movements. The basic features of these bellows are:
- Equipped with two metal bellow, these bellows come with an intermediate pipe and connectors on the both side
- These bellows have limited pressure resistance capacities for stability reasons
- Loads the adjacent pipe support with axial compressive force resulting from the internal pressure
- Used to compensate large axial and lateral movements at low pressure
